Yes, all Citus cards can be used anywhere Mastercard or Visa is accepted.

If you do not have the Citus Mobile app, you can call us at 1-800-418-2362 if you plan on using your Citus cards abroad or before you make an online purchase in a foreign country.

Yes! We currently report to TransUnion and Experian.

Once your account is established, we will start reporting your monthly account history using the information provided on your application. If you’re an international student studying in the US, be sure to call us to add an SSN if/when you receive one to ensure more accurate reporting on your credit report.

We do not currently report to Equifax, but we may do so in the future.

Call your credit card companies beforehand and ask whether or not their policies apply in your situation in the USA; their respective coverage limits; if the policy includes collision, comprehensive, and liability coverage and whether any additional fees apply.

In this case, car insurance comes automatically with your rental.


Yes. We accept applications from international and domestic students and non-students who are US citizens or permanent residents.

All of these types of students are all eligible to apply for the EDU Mastercard.

Yes, we will perform a hard inquiry if a report is available.

A credit history is not required to apply for or to be approved for a Citus Mastercards, but if you do have credit history we’ll take that into consideration when we evaluate your application. For applicants that do have a SSN and a credit history, we will attempt to perform a hard inquiry – which is a standard process which many established credit issuers undergo when an application for credit is submitted.

Documents may vary based upon what card you’re applying for.

If you are an international student, we ask for a copy of your passport, US student visa, most recent I-20 or DS-2019 form, and latest U.S. bank account statements — we do not require an SSN. If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (Green Card), including a student, we may request your SSN and ask you to connect your US bank account.

A few documents may be required with your application.

Upon applying and if you’re eligible, you will receive an email with a link to a secure portal where you can upload PDF photos or scans of your documents. For security reasons, we do not accept documents through the mail or as email attachments.

After completing the application and submitting all required information and documents, we validate your application. The review and approval process will take up to 3 business days.

Upon approval of Citus cards, your card will be shipped soon and you should receive your card in approximately 10-15 business days.

With each individual credit application, the initial credit limit will be assessed and assigned at the time of approval.

We currently do not accept formal requests for credit line increases but continuously analyze your account for increases.

While we do not accept formal requests for credit line increases at the moment, we do however continuously analyze each and every cardholder’s performance so that these increases can be extended. This is an automatic process which will be applied once internal requirements have been met.

Generally, this may include using your card regularly, making on-time payments greater than the required minimum, using your card wisely by staying under the credit limit, and linking your bank account. When you become eligible for a credit limit increase, we will notify you by email with your new limit.


Cash back credits are issued as statement credits in increments of $25. This cash back benefit will appear on your next statement after you have earned $25 in cash back.

Enroll in Amazon Prime Student using your Citus EDU Mastercard as your payment method and we will reimburse you for subscription fees up to a life-time total of $59.

When Amazon charges your Citus EDU Mastercard, we will issue statement credits for $6.49 per month for the monthly payment plan or $59 for the annual payment plan. To take advantage of this offer, you must still be a student at time of enrollment.

This offer can only be redeemed one time per customer. This offer is also valid for existing Amazon Prime Student subscriptions that were paid for with a SelfScore or Citus EDU Mastercard for up to a $59 value, reimbursed in the form of a statement credit, provided that your account is in good standing when the charge(s) appear.
